The Piacentile Family Foundation was proud to serve as a Gold Sponsor for the Public Justice Foundation’s Annual Gala in Montreal Canada, on July 13, 2015. It was a night of celebration, honoring those in the legal field that have fought for justice in ways that impact our society.

It was also a moving, inspirational night, highlighting trial lawyers who won major legal victories fighting for justice to change lives and impact society. The Foundation’s Trial Lawyer of the Year award was presented to the legal team that successfully litigated one of the largest labor trafficking cases in the United States. In this case, justice was issued for immigrant workers that were the victims of unfair and unjust labor practices where labor recruits from India were falsely promised long term jobs and permanent residency and being paid below market wages.

A social justice advocate from the past was also recognized that night. Viola Liuzzo was posthumously honored with the Champion of Justice Award for her activism in the civil rights movement. Viola was shot and killed in 1965 by the KKK in Selma.

The Piacentile Family attended the event in support of the Public Justice Foundation, which works to support the noble work of Public Justice, a public interest law firm that pursue high impact lawsuits to combat social and economic injustice, protect the Earth’s sustainability, and challenge predatory corporate conduct and government abuses.
